Default Wet Carpet and Smell of dampness

Hi

I got Volvo S60 2001 2.4T

I have noticed that in the corner of driver side floormat there is dirty places near pedals.
Recently I have removed them and with touch I felt wet carpet. There is also smell. it smells like ac leaking but not sure about that as AC works normally.

Are there any known issues about that?
What could be the reason and what should be solution for that?

Thanks

Sounds like it might be the heater core that is leaking. It is tucked back behind the dash. If it springs a leak, coolant can collect in the drivers' and/or passengers' floor boards. Early signs are a sweet smell in the car from the coolant. Eventually, the smell becomes not-so-nice almost rotten smell. You may notice the coolant level going down.

It is more common on the other, older Volvo models. Sometimes the cause is failed o-rings. Other times it is a crack in the heater core itself. Replacement o-rings are only a few bucks, but a heater core is over $200 easy. I would imagine its a few hours labor.

Maybe your condensate drain line is plugged up.
