Well first of all.............don't break your brakes. Many members swear by Volvo pads which you can obtain from the dealer for the same cost as from Volvo advertisers. NAPA sells a ceramic pad that works quite well and is dust free. What you want to avoid is a racing pad. The reason is that performance pads work with high temperatures that accompany hard use. The brakes have to be hot in order for the auto to stop whereas a "street" pad works when they are cold such as normal driving.

Yea after reading around Im pretty much convinced on the volvo pads, I even have the priced and comfirmed stock at my local dealer. $100 for the fron and 50 for the back.. ouch..
I was thinking that a set of ceramic pads would be just as good I can see why they woudl be bad? Just as long as I dont get the standard autozone metalic pads arg..... but so many people say volvo pads only! ...

Scott I am looking at my receipt from the Volvo dealer dated 30 Aug 07 for the fronts on my old 02 c70. The cost is list: $98.71 but the net amount to me was: $77.81. My dealer ALWAYS discounts the price. In fact I picked up a set of factory fronts from the dealer for my Millenia and the list was $58.70 but the net was: $44.95. With that in mind ask your dealer about his price to you. I have used the NAPA ceramic pads on the c70 and quite frankly they work best when used hard and I found that they are not as good as organic pads for city driving. The nice part of ceramic is no dust whereas the Volvo organics are horrendous in the dust department requiring frequent wheel cleaning.
