My S60R just turned 20k miles and over the past week or two I can now hear a whining noise coming from the rear of the car! My suspicions are that the whining is coming from the rear Differential. I thought this was unlikely as the car has only 20k miles. So, I swapped out my winter rims and tires for the stock rims, took it out for a run and the noise is still there! Anyone experienced this?

 

Try rear wheel bearings..they are sealed units and usually go by 50,000 mi

I took it to the
Dealer and they replaced the rear wheel bearings! They said that there is a design fault that lets moisture into the bearings causing premature wear.
