Default White Smoke

Driving up the pass and over 3,000 rpms it shoots out white smoke for a second or so. I have an idea of what it is, but want opinions.....

I also noticed my transmission jerks hopefully it just needs the software upgrade.

thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Generally, white smoke from the tail pipe is either normal water vapour or coolant entry into the combustion chamber. The latter can be tested by doing a compression test, cooling system pressure test, etc...

As for the tranny, until you can get software upgrade, visit a local AutoZone or other auto parts shops that provide fee OBD-II diagnosis service and pull codes from the transmission ECU. The scanner used at AutoZone may not be able to access the tranny ECU but doesn't hurt to try.

Wait to see what other members think.

Wish you luck,

JPN

It could be caused byyour turbo. If you pull off the intake hose leading to it is there a lot of play in the shaft?

Ya its white as day. Odd thing it dumps its when it goes up steep inclines (temp gauge etc stays on middle). Other then that normal driving conditions don't notice anything diffrent no white smoke nothing car runs fine.

Ya its actually the none turbo model

An engine on an incline is under a heavier load. Do you do a lot of hilly driving?
