Default Why Brake pedal goes deep?

I got an issue with my 2002 Volvo S60 2.4T, 116,500 miles.

When I made a brake, I need to step the pedal down 30% deep, then the brake start to work, and then I can easily push the pedal down to the floor.

The brake can still work but several mechanics told me to replace the brake master cylinder. So I replaced it yesterday and filled new fluid.

After repair, I feel only a little change on my brake pedal. It still can be push down to the floor (a little bit harder than before). The brake will start working after push it 15% deep (instead of 30%).

I think there might be another problem in my brake system. Anyone met before?

When you replace the Matster cylinder you need to have the lines power bleed. That is the only way to make sure that all the air is out of the lines. You can also use something like this Motive Power Brake Pressure Bleeder Most auto part store sell or even rent power or pressure bleeders. Other than that i am sure that you have air in the lines and u must get it out to get the full pedal back. GL

Default Sinking brake pedal

This sounds like you have a lot of air in your brake system,,start with the bleed nipple closest to the master cylinder working away to the furthest away. Making sure all air bubbles are removed... Repeat if necessary. Good luck!

the above posts said it perfectly. bleed the breaks or tell a mechanic too that is the issue 99.9% of the time with your symptoms. often times mechs dont bleed enough to get the air out of the system. So tell them to bleed them and that SHOULD fix your problem, if that doesnt fix it then your pistons in your master cylinder could be defected and you may have to send that one back under the warrenty it came with and replace it.
