Default Why should I buy 2008 S60

I'm new to the forum and Volvo. I've been looking around and have really been drawn to the 2008 S60. I've heard complaints about rear leg room and soft steering. The reliability ratings online sound good but I'd like some insider info. Thanks for your time

Mines an 02 but I really have enjoyed it. I always drive so rear leg room is not that big a deal to me. Steering is not Indy car quick but I wouldn't call it soft.

I also have an 02 and it is a very reliable car. The rear leg room isn't the best I admit, but a family of 4 can comfortably fit. The steering is not the worst, but it can be improved with the IPD swaybar kit which is a very popular upgrade. Most people argue that it is the best upgrade that can be done to an S60. Another improvement to steering could be the change of power steering fluid. Overall, it is a wonderful car to own and you would be happy owning it. Don't hesitate to ask more questions about the S60.

The P2 S60 is probably one of the best looking cars Volvo has ever made, IMO (I guess the Amazon wagon might top the list though :P). I think by 2008 Volvo realized many of the mistakes they made using certain parts and a lot of the "scary" reliability issues you hear about in the 2001-2002 S60's were worked out by then.

Buy it! I'm sure you'll love it.

Bumping up a rather old thread- but im in a similar situation and could use help!
I have been looking around for a good volvo for a while now, and initially was looking at a circa '98 car, but then recently I happened to TD a 2008 S60 and I quite liked it. Though not the AWD version, it was quite peppy and nice.

I am tempted to buy it - its an '08 S60 FWD with about 109K. So far (according to a cursory check on car fax) spark plugs replaced at 60K miles, the ignition control module was replaced at about 90K miles.

Planning on getting the timing belt changed as soon as I buy it and get the oils & radiator flushed and replaced- Is there anything else that is recommended? Also, what are the parts that might need replacement in the near future (given the vintage and mileage of this car)

Also, when I start the car, there is a noise from the engine bay which sounds as though the fan is touching something but then it goes off after a few mins. Has anyone else had this issue?

So given all these inputs, do you suggest I look at this particular car or something else?

Thanks!
M
