Default wiring harness

Hi I just got a 2004 S60(very excited). I want to change the sound system since it comes with a HU613. I noticed that on the wiring harness it has front and back speaker wires but my car has 6. front doors, rear doors, and back panel. How do i connect? And if I decide to put a 4 channel amp can I just put it under the passenger seat, since the bigger systems come with an amp and installed there, does all the wiring connections go through there even though this vehicle came with a hu613? Again how would I connect 6 speakers to 4 channel amp? Or do I need another 2 channel amp?

TIA

If you go aftermarket first thing you will need to do is go to the Dealer and have them download software to remove the factory radio as a module in the network.

Then you can mess with the rest from there.
I would try with the 4 channel amp first and see how it sounds.

Check with crutchfeild and see if they make the plug kits to go from aftermarket radio to factory wiring yet.

The computer stores the radio. If you replace it the computer still looks for the factory radio and you'll get misreads and errors.

Exactly the radio is part of the talking network of the car.
If you remove it the network is broke and signals are missing from places they should be.

What about if you are just trying to add an amp? I have a 1300 watt amp that I wanted to add.. is there a remote wire that comes from the radio?

Not that I am aware of.
The Antenna is on one of the windows and has an Antenna Amp for the signal.

Ok I braught the car to the dealer before installation and they told me there is nothing to do on software upgrade unless I change with another radio. I guess I will remove the old and see what happens.
Also I have component speakers in front doors, speakers on back doors and on back deck. Anybody know what kind of speakers are in there. I want to a local audio shop and I told them I want to add a 4 channel amp giving 50Wx4 RMS http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...829696,00.html and wanted to change the speakers also because they distort. He said that the speakers are good and there is no need to change them, it is the headunit amp which is distorting. Any experiences on adding an amp to these speakers? Can they take the power? The installer also said that removing the door panels is a PITA, and therefore says better left alone. I do already have a good pair of Alpine component speakers lying around, so I am hesitating. All I can see ids the back speakers says 8 ohm and no other info. I guess they are connecting in series with back door speakers to bring it to 4 ohms.
TIA

If you are adding an aftermarket headunit software should be installed.
The guy you spoke to at the Dealer must not know his A** from a hole in the ground.
If you want I can get you the Part # and then you can have them download it.
It will cost you about $30.00 for the Software and .5 labor to have it done.

I would appreciate the part number. Luckily I spoke to the manager hehe. BTW is there a way we can do software upgrades ourself. I noticed besides putting gas in this car everything else seems to need a visit to tyhe dealer for a software download.???
TIA

No way to do it your self.
8633566 is the part# to remove the radio function from the car.

Well I have the factory stereo with the 4 disc changer. I installed the ipod adapter and now my AM signal sucks. I took out the power and ground wires for the adapter but no dice. Any suggestions? Which window has the antenna on it? Maybe it has a problem. Thanks![]
