Won’t start only when freezing
Good morning,
this is my third winter with my Volvo S60. When it reaches below 32 degrees it won’tstart. I have out a new battery and even had it to a foreign car shop who I ended up fighting with because he called me to pick it up after having it six days and said he just didn’t know what it was. And tried to charge me 900 dollars for labor ! Even after putting a new battery in.
Once the winter is over the car starts and runs like a charm!

i have a 2004 volvo S60 i dint know what engine this started last winter every time the temp dropped below freezing. would try to turn but not start. once the temp rises the car starts. i was sick at the end of last winter so i just parked it at my sons. once spring came it started right up and ran all summer long no issues. temps dropped below 32 last night and its not starting again when freezes. this usually happens at below 32 degrees

If the engine spins over normally (battery is healthy) and the engine fails to catch when cold -
I would check engine and outside air temp sensor readings using a compatible scan tool. Preferably when it's having a problem.
In other words the car will have to be checked when it traditionally is not going to start. That usually means you or your trusted service person will need the car first thing in the morning to check it -
Other parameters should be checked at that time also - such as fuel pressure, injector pulse time, etc. Something as simple as a large air leak could be a cause - are there any codes stored?
