Default 1998 S70 unlocking problem

I just picked up a mint condition 1998 S70 and am loving the car. The problem is after going to the local Volvo shop all of a sudden the car has stopped unlocking 2 of the doors. The front passenger door and rear driver side passenger door will lock but will NOT unlock when you hit the unlock button or use the remote. Is there anything I can check or do before looking for a new lock actuator?

It just seems odd that it will lock but not unlock...

Thanks for the help! Look forward to hanging around the forum!

FYI--seems to be a common problem with these cars. I have the same problem, but it is intermittent. Was the previous owner a smoker. My car was owned by a cigar smoker and it took a long time to get the smell out of the car. The tar and nicotine can really gum up electro-mechanical components. The Airlines figured that out years ago and the no-smoking ban has saved them millions in repairs over the years. The ban did not come about to save your health.

Try replacing the battery in the remote, if you haven't done so, to rule out that issue. Careful--the remotes seem to be fragile and will break easily.

Good luck.

Default lock issues

My 99 S70 has the same issue. I learned the lock actuators and locks are made together. I have two on order now. They are around 150 a piece. I have not yet installed so I can't speak to the difficulty of installation yet. Mine would "activiate" and you could see the door lock button go down, but the door was not locked.

I've actually had the same problem with the rear driver's side door, although mine seems to rarely act up. I've noticed it only seems to happen when it's really warm outside and the sun has been hitting the area of the lock by the window. Has anyone else been having this issue under this circumstance?

No solution to this problem?
I have the same issue with my 99 s70 T5. In addition, the remote range is very poor and it won't work twice in a row. I have to wait for a long time to use the remote again. The remote battery is brand new BTW. I read some posting saying that there is a backup siren battery near front wheel well, but I could not find anything like that.
