Default 1998 Volvo S70 glt emissions failure

Anyone ever get the error EVAP system large leak detected? I was at emissions last week and got this error code I think it’s because I have a leak in the evap canister valve seal or hose and I need to replace one of the evap canisters. Is anyone able to confirm my suspicion or have had to deal with this problem?

It is supposed to test the evap emissions system occasionally by pulling vacuum on it. I am not sure where all the measurements are made, I should study that. So anywhere gas fumes are controlled by the vent system, you could have a leak and the ECM could be correct in what it's telling you. Gas cap of course is the first place to look, and you probably already know that. The short rubber hose connecting directly to the fuel tank also seems to be a weak point. If it leaks, though, you usually smell gasoline. The parts of the system that are in the engine bay may have some rotten rubber.

I agree. There is a short section of hose under the RH rear tire that I've seen come loose or even rot away. Replace that and you should be just fine.

Found a **** hose that was worn and clipped my dad was the one who did the repair what he did was clip the bad section of hose on both ends of the split part then take a bigger hose that fit the two separated ends and connected them. I and others would assume this would work. 30 or so miles later plug in the code reader the same code appears along with a new one not sure what the new one is but I’ll plug it in again tommorow and post what it says.
