1999 S70 ETM Issue
Post this to Volvo Forums
Hello, new user here. I couldnt find an answer to my questions so I started a new thread. I have a 1999 Volvo S70 AWD 2.4L Turbo.
I have 292,000 miles, and car has been converted to FWD.
3 years ago when I got the car, every time I started it in the winter or
cold for the first time for the day, it would idle hunt and rev erratically
for up to a minute then it would be fine and run normal. I cleaned the MAF sensor about 2 years ago and it didnt fix anything. Last week I drove it 180 miles straight without incident. The next day I went through town it ran fine, but when I went to accelerate the car was under powered and not responding to the gas pedal. It seems to do it when at idle and gets tripped up. But now it's always in LIMP mode, limited to 1500 RPM and a top speed of 10MPH. I'm positive it's the ETM. I wanted to use my volt meter to check the voltage coming off the butterfly valve in the unit but I don't know what
two wires to hook up to. It's a six pin connector and the wire colors are, blue, yellow brown on one side, and green brown purple on the other side. I was trying to follow a video on youtube but his connector only had 3 wires. I am also wondering what my cheapest choices to fix this are. Could I get a used ETM off of an identical year/model Volvo and it would work? Lastly I hear cleaning it is only a temporary fix, is it worth it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My cars been out of commission for 3 weeks now. I was going to add images but not sure how to post them..
