Lightbulb 2000 S70 dead power antenna

Tried to hook up power to it out of car directly at the motor (2 wires covered by a black cap with 2 screws) and nada seams dead, anyone tried to fix one?

I would hook it all back up and figure out what is wrong with it. Did it not go up and down? Was it making any noise at all? These motors don't go out often, usually it's the antenna mass that goes bad.

If I had hooked it back up I would get what I got before ...nothing. Took it apart and found the worm gear from the motor is seized up solid. Will try to loosen it up with WD40 but not holding much hope it's quite coroded in there.

Talking Got it going

Yuk is about right ... but amazingly after I sprayed some "Brake Away" on the seized up worm gear over a couple of days! I got it going. Cleaned up the rusty shaft then greased up everything and it works like new! ... almost. The antenna was also not moving well I had to clean that up to get it extending all the way. This thing must not have been working for quite some time.

I'm shocked to hear that you got that thing going. You are amazing. I have started my egg timer, let me know how long that thing last.

It's hard to believe that the motor was locked up with that rust and all, trying to move every time that radio was turned off and on and now it's working??? I'm very impressed.
