2002 S40 antenna replacement - antenna won't retact completely
Hello,
My Daughter purchased a used Volvo S40 from my Sister-in-law who had a mishap in a car wash with her antenna - that is to say she left the radio on and the car washer ripped the antenna out.
We purchased the car and I ordered a replacement antenna mast from Parts Geek - the address is shown below:
http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/200...enna_mast.html
The actual part is a "Uro Parts" # 3345775 - Volvo Antenna Mast
I unscrewed the 14mm nut a the base of the antenna, remove about 2 to 3 inches of antenna that was left by from the car wash (or at least I think this was all that was left) - please note there was no white plastic "rip cord" with gear teeth that came out - again - I assume Jaws the Car Wash got that!
I had my Daughter turn on / off the radio and got the new antenna to feed nicely, however, the very bottom of the base of the new antenna (has a copper colored ring at base) seems to large in diameter to fit in the antenna hole in the vehicle - furthermore - the manufacturer provided a 2.5 inch sleeve that is also too large in diameter to fit in the vehicle's antenna hole.
Additionally, when the antenna retracts, it does not go completely into vehicle - about 9 inches (basically the last "link" of the antenna) remains sticking up out of vehicle.
I simply tightened the 14 mm nut and tested - radio on / off - antenna up / down - all worked OK and the radio a decent signal.
Does this sound OK - or did I miss something like purchased wrong antenna or maybe left a piece of old one in hole.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

The one first piece has to be taken out.It has a lock thingy on it check this on the new one and it tends to rust into the hole too.I had to dig it out on a very unorthodox way.Normally this part should come out with the rest of the mass but since yours was broken it stuck in there.Until you can get this piece out you can not install the new one.
