Default 2000 S70 T with new platinum spark plugs

I recently had the spark plugs replaced in my 2000 S70 turbo after an episode when the car would crank but not start. However, two weeks later I encountered the same problem. I took my car to a mechanic that repairs Volvos exclusively and he states that Volvos do not do well well with platinum spark plugs and that they will tend to cause the engine to flood. Has anyone else encountered this?

I use Bosch Platinums in all my cars and the cars I work on and never have any problems with them.

Toyota recommends Iridium plugs for my 05 V8 4runner(per label on side of engine). With that in mind, I use NGK Iridium IX plugs on both my 4runner and t5 and don't have issues.
