Default key fob remote

I just bought a 98 s70 and it has the red blinking light on the dash.

The key fob remote doesn't work but i was going to try to replace the battery and see if that did anything. How do you pop the cover off the remote to replace the battery? it felt like it was going to break when i tried to.

Also on FCPgroton it says you can manually program the remote if you have the red blinking security light on the dash. They even give the instructions there on how to do it. Is this true?

Thanks

On the bottom of the remote I believe there is a slot to put a screwdriver into and turn the screw driver to pop the cover open.

No the 98 cannot be programmed manually Dealer only.

I haven't seen the instructions but they might be for the 850's.

The 98 they need the hand held to do it and need a special Pin # for the computer in the car.
The 99 and 00 they need to download software info the car to program the remotes.
