I can't decide to buy an S70 T5. It has 216000 miles on it. I took it for a drive it runs very well. The leather interior is in very good condition. A friends father is selling it he is asking $2400. I have never owned a volvo. I was planning to drive it for a while then give it to my son next year when he starts driving. I don't have much time to decide he hasn't advertised it yet. That kind of mileage scares me and is the only thing keeping me away. Does anyone have an opinion?

The average price paid for a new car nowadays is approaching $30,000. So if you're paying $2,400 for a used car, realistically, I wouldn't expect any guarantees, and in relative terms anyway, you're not risking that much.
I think the fact that the interior is in good condition is an indication the car has been well cared for over it's 15 year life so far - few cars have a good interior at that point. You could always have a mechanic give a thorough look over the car (check engine compression in all cylinders, brakes at all four wheels, front end and steering parts, quick road test to check shifting, etc) for roughly a few hundred dollars - that's what I'd do.
