My S70 AWD recently started making a ticking noise that is dependant upon speed. It happens at random while driving, but is becoming more frequent the more I drive it. It sounds like its coming right from the underside of the car. At high speeds it sounds like a rattle of a heat sheild at first, but as you slow down, the tick slows down with the speed. Has a very tin can sound to it. I have checked around the driveshaft for any interferance and cannot find any. I'm fearing the worst and thinking that it's the bevel gear. This also happens under any driving condition, even with the trans in neutral.

 

Hi there when you start the car from cold dont push clutch in as you take the end float out on the gearbox side of crank! quickly get out of the car still running kneel down by the nearside wheel can you hear an audiable clicking? Also if you go into first lift the clutch till bitting point then select reverse the lift the clutch till bitting point then does it click? Or generally when driving it does it all the time more round corners?
