Default ABS Light

I have been told by a local shop that the reason my ABS light is on is due to the ABS pump? Could this be a ABS controller unit problem or is it the pump? Can an experienced Novice replace this himself? Any ideas on were I can get one?

Thak You

Dale

TECH, yes I received your email and responded. I sent it from my email and not the 'site's' email.................you shoud have received it. If not, send it again and I can respond although the quick answer to you was: "no, I don't know those people". Let me know and I can resend.

yes, it's the module. I have a 99 s80 and a 00 s70. i have the problem on both. does your STC light come on as well? it's all in the same module. it should be fairly easy to remove, here's the link of the people i'm about to send mine to. i'm doing the s80 next thursday & hopefuly if it works i'll do the s70 as well. on my s80, the cruise control dosen't work sometimes, i hear they are related. the s70 dosen't seem to be as bad yet, the light barely comes on, the s80 is on all the time!
will let you know how it goes,

I had to replace the ABS Module on my 1998 S70 GLT about a year ago. The ABS Light came on, but the ABS appeared to be working. After I gave in and bought a rebuilt ABS Control Module I discovered that there was a huge difference in the ABS performance. With the faulty (old) module the ABS would kick in, but with the replacement (rebuilt) module the ABS truly worked and you cold feel the difference. Don't be fooled by ABS that appears to be working.

How much did the reconditioning/rebuild cost you? When I did mine, I bought a rebuilt unit and sent in my core when I received the new one. I think it cost me around $160.

I have a '99 S70 GLT with very similar problems with the ABS light coming on, Trac Control light coming on/revving engine and the speedometer dropping offline. Have any of you had these problems along with your ABS failures (reference these posts: https://volvoforums.com/m_15891/tm.htm or https://volvoforums.com/m_39735/tm.htm)? How have the repairs gone thus far? How about ETS lights coming on? Any info on ABS module costs would be helpful too!

so i put the s80 module back in. all the lights are off now so i guess the rebuilt works good! the only thing is the cruise control isn't working. i need to email those guys & ask them what's up with that. but there are no codes anymore. we'll see how the car does in the next few days.

There might be a codes stored in the engine module but the light not be on.

That will stop the cruise from working.
