I have a Volvo S70 98 with 101,000 miles on it. The ABS and the Tracs off light comes on. I stopped the car, turned the ignition off, started the car, light steel on, drove it and the light turned off. I tried to read the code with my acron scanner and it came empty.
I replaced the rotors and pads on all the wheels, did not help. The light comes on when I am stopping the car too.
Please advise what shell I do. Where is the ABS module located?

The ABS module is the likely source of the problem. I have replaced several of them for that problem. The ABD module is just below and behind the air cleaner housing. You will see the black box munted there that comes off the hydrolic unit.

My tracs light is on most of the time, but now and then goes off and when it does i can turn the tracs on and off. But i dont have any abs light. does that sound like the abs module? This is on a 97 850 with 140,000

 

Yes it does sound like the module.

Does your ABS light light up when you turn the key on?

 

no abs light upon turning on the key or start up

 

The either the bulb is burned out or someone removed the bulb.

I had the same problem - another option for the ABS module is to buy one already rebuilt from FCP Groton -they have them for about $170 with Tracs, still muchhhhhhh cheaper than the dealer new price. I got one of these and have ABS again - a beautiful thing.

P.S. If you get it, save your shipping box for the return of your old module, as there is a core charge on this part.

 

I have a 98S70 Just had this problem fixed. It's the ASB control module. Junk yard has them. What will eventually happen is the light will stay on. The Volvo garage says it's not hurting anything, but you are on manual brakes. the light drove me nuts when it wouldn't go out. So, I had it replaced.
