Default AC Recharge Kit

Hi All,

New to these forums and to trying to do anything myself on my volvo. Got a '98 S70 with absolutely NO air conditioning. Just found out that I can recharge it myself. Wondering if anyone has done this and how simple a job it is.

Also any recommendations on valves/brands to do the charge?

Thanks

I just got one of those diy cans from O'Riely's or Wal-Mart. It has a valve on it, a gauge and a tall can. It's blue and is suppose to be synthetic, colder.

When you slip the gauge on you will see the current charge, pressure. If it's already charged up, do not add more, figure out what else is broken. If it is low, it has a leak. I believe that stuff has stop leak in it. However, the stop leak in it is only for the rubber seals. If you have a metal leak, like in your evaporator, it will continue to leak until you replace the part. Don't be like me and keep putting freon in it. That destroyes the ozone. My grand kids might need to breath 40 years from now.
