Default Brake lights not working! 98 s70 n/a

So I've been having an intermittent issue with my brake lights. Also, sometimes the instant I depress the brake pedal the "light failure indicator" flashes once very briefly. Recently, as the weather has gotten warmer, the problem has worsened and they are just not working all together. I have tested the brake light switch and it seems to be working fine. Checked the fuse which is also fine. Is there a relay within the circuit somewhere?

you may want to consult a wiring diagram to see if the brake lights use a relay in the CEM (central electronic module). Also see if there's other bits that use the same circuit ie the OBD2 port; Have you replaced the bulbs or cleaned up their contacts and reseated them?
