Default Brake Master Pressure Switch Failure?

Hello All, I am new to this forum. I purchased a 1998 S70 GLT 2 years ago for my son. Very well built car. My daughter now drives it and over the last few months it has developed a few issues.

Today, all the brake fluid leaked out of the master cylinder. It appears to be coming through the pressure switch. Before I just replace the switch I am hoping for confirmation from that this is a logical failure. Is it possible for the master cylinder itself to fail and leak through the switch?

Thanks for your help in advance.

The EBD switch is known to go bad at times.

Replaced switch, problem solved. It is a bit concerning that a simple failure could create such a drastic situation (empty master cylinder).
