Default A/C Help Please!!!

I have a 98 S70, the a/c does not blow cold air. I had someone take a look at it, the compressor was not kicking on. He ran a direct line from the battery to the compressor and it came on. I checked the fuses and replaced the ac compressor relay in the fuse box. I put a test light on all the fuses, and got power from two of the relay sockets. I have no power at the low and high pressure sensors. The system has a good bit of freon. I even went to a parts shop and tested another climate control unit. Any help is truly appreciated, thanks.

Try jumping the pressure switch and see if the compressor comes on with the A/C on.

The high or low pressure switch could be bad.

Thanks for all the help so far fellas, I replaced the AC compressor relay. I didn't seem to do anything the next day I tried I have AC. Now the clincher, on occasion it doesn;t remain cold. Sometimes I turn it on it blows fine, other days, starts off cold for about 5 minutes and then starts blowing not as cold, any suggestions.

If it blows cold when you first start the car then stops blowing cold after driving a little bit the clutch may need to be reshimmed. If you can check for power at the compressor when it stops blowing cold if you have power and the compressor is not running the clutch needs to be reshimmed.

Thanks, do you know of a palce in Atlanta where I can have it reshimmed. It looks like doing it myself I would have to take the compressor out.

I have done it without disconnecting the compressor and removing it.
I made a post about reshimming it.

If you have any Volvo repair shops near you they might do it.

The post that I viewed had the compressor off the vehicle. Do you have a post or link with the procedure with pics being done on the vehicle?

Sorry I do not. What I have done in the past is removed all the screws for the compressor and also loosened the bracket for the dryer and moved the dryer to the side then slide the compressor over and took it apart.
