I realize that my compressor is probably bad, but the other night i drove home, outside temp was 97, ac quit blowing cold after 30 minutes. When I got home I sprayed water on the front grill with engine and ac still on. The compressor came back on.

If you really want to know for your self.
First measure the compressor Gap with a fuller guage.
Then when it stop blowing cold again check for power at the compressor with a test light. If you have power it is bad.
