Car vibrates while driving
My 2000 Volvo S70 AWD vibrates beginning at about 15 mph and greater. It mostly vibrates between 15 - 25 mph, but there is still slightly vibrates after that speed. The vibration can be felt in the steering column. I tried putting the car in park and revved it up and no vibration was felt, so problem seems to lie in the drive-train. This vibration is not due to bad or improperly balanced tires, because I just replaced them and had a front end alignment as well. I took it to a garage and the mechanic drove it around for a little bit and said it could be a CV axle. He had minimal experience with Volvo's so he said to not take is word on it. Any ideas on what this problem could be? Thanks in advance for your help.
After disassembling the entire front drive-train it seems like its probably something to do with the drive-shaft. The wheel bearings need replacement so I ordered new ones. Both CVs seem to be fine. Has anyone else had problems with their drive shaft? I am not sure what part of the drive-shaft or its components could vibrate so much. Any ideas?
Hi there, Look at the actual constant velocity joint, these are buggers if they run dry!
they overheat and get tight and cause the vibration you speak of... just a thought. re-lube and dont forget to clean well.
