Default Changing from Nivomats to Pump-Ups on an early 'R'

My son has a '97 V70R with self-levelling rear suspension (Nivomats), which were fitted from new. They're getting tired now and he's started towing a caravan, so he wants to fit Monroe Ride-Levellers (pump-up shocks. Yes, they're still available) instead of Nivomats.

When I fitted Ride-Levellers to my own V70 (not an 'R') it was simply a case of removing the old shockers (not Nivomats) and replacing them with the Monroes. The upper/lower mounts and springs needed no modifications, so I think we can treat them as conforming with standard fitments, so my questions are these:

1) Are the mounts and springs actually different for Nivomats, and dependent on the answer, what will be involved in the change from Nivomats to Monroes?
