My check engine light is on and I changed the gas cap because thats what the code called for.

My question. Can I somehow reset the check engine light myself or will I need to bring it to a Volvo technician to get it reset?

 

Yeah you can reset it with a reset tool.

I believe they still sell the reset tools.

 

Any scanner that reads and erases codes can clear it. Auto zone does it as well.

Check Engine Light came on today
No mechanical problems, except for my desperate need for a wheel alignment (another story), and my rotors getting destroyed (midas pads)

I plan on going to Auto Zone to get scanned. I'll come back in here withe codes once I have them.
Not enough info yet, I realize, but any thoughts on the cause?
