Default CV BOOT SPLIT

I have a 1998 Volvo S70 that has a split CV boot on the drivers side, outer boot (one closest to the wheel). I have a Haynes manual, but it is unclear as to whether I have to tear the whole suspension apart just to replace the boot. Can the boot be replaced on the car and if so, what is the procedure? What things do I need to be careful about while performing this task? Thanks.............Mike

Remove the axle from the car is the easiest way to do it.
Better yet you should be able to find a rebuilt axle pretty cheap just replace the axle.
Usually when the grease all comes out the joint is bad.
