'98 S70, non-turbo, auto

Is it a good idea to replace the drive axle seal at the differential output when the shafts are removed or will I be able to reuse them?

You will be fine with just swapping out the Axles.

I forgot to ask; will I need to have the wheel alignment done after replacing the cv shafts?

No if you take it apart by loosening the balljoint. Alot of people never align the car even if they remove the strut bolts. Im not happy with doing that.
