Default CV Joint replacement

I've got a 1998 S70 GLT with a torn boot on the driver's side CV joint. Should I replace the whole joint or just the boot? Also, if the joint is replaced, do any fluids have to be topped off like tranny fluid?

Default RE: CV Joint replacement

If the joint looks clean inside, you may just have to replace the boot. If in dought, seeing that you have to take it all apart anyways, you might as well replace the axle also. It's about $100. Fluids remain the same.
