defrost help on s70

Default defrost help on s70

ok guys next question just got this 1998 volvo s70 4 door sedan and this morning i went to put on the windshield defroster and nothing.......... it comes out of the vents good but when u switch to feet or defrost it doesnt come out the top or bottom,now im almost sure its a vacuum but ive never worked on one of these any hints? am i guessing right? if so lead me to the way to fix i cant find a free repair manual for it if u have any leads to one of those also thnx in advance for any and all ideas bb

Was the car warmed up? The ECC usually doesn't kick on until the car warms up to about 130 degrees F.

I have a 1999 s70 and I had a very similar problem as well when I first bought my car. Is there a sweet sorta maple smell when you crank the heat in yours? If so, it might be that the heater core has started to leak. Its not that expensive or complicated of a fix if that's the case.

yes the car was warmed up and throwing good heat out the vents so that wasnt it..and no smells thank goodness anybody think its a vacuum and links to fix it? thnx

ok guys just letting u know i took out the glove box today and found that the arm had fallen off,so i drilled a tiny little hole in the shaft put the arm back on and stuck a piece of wire in the hole turned on my defrost and wala it worked so all is well posted my next question already thnx alot for ur help and links they really did work.thnx again bb.... rspi ur link to kiss4afrog answer worked thnx
