Default Diesel injectors

I have a 5 year old V70 diesel which has done only 43,000 miles.
The car is presently in for service (with a franchised Volvo garage) and I am told that I need new injectors to cure the rough running and misfiring of the engine. The cost of these is over £1,700 +VAT to fit.

It is, to my mind, absurd that I need to do this after such a short mileage. I have always used proper fuel and the car has been regularly serviced.

Has anyone else come across this problem after short mileage.

I am pretty sure that's about $2,400 in American dollars... but that seems outrageous, honestly.

Quite a few things can cause a misfire, but it seems unlikely at only 43,000 miles...
