Default Dip Stick(s) broke!

I have a 99 S70 awd model. Recently both the transmission dipstick and engine oil dipstick broke.

Engine oil- I called volvo and they said I need the new type dipstick and tube? 100 bucks is a little steep to me. Will a 98 s70's dipstick work? Theres one at my local pick n pull. Or what other models/years can I use. I'd like to avoid buying a new tube.

Transmission- I bought a new dip stick for like 6 bucks from volvo. Now my question is how do I get the old one out? The top of the dipstick is about 6 inches down the tube.

Thanks!

Not sure about the oil dip stick being interchangable. You can go to a parts website and cross the part numbers.

As for the transmission stick, you may want to put a piece of tape or something on the new stick and try to fish the old stick out. Make sure you have the tape or whatever on good so you don't loose the tape. The other option is to take the dipstick out of the transmission. Two bolts on a bracket holds it in. They are on the top side.

Buy the replacements all day long on eBay and you don't have to change the tube.

I've sent a few messages to the sellers with no response. Some of their auction say Ineed a tube(which I want to avoid at the moment.) While others say I don't kind of confusing.

Parts companies that specialize in Volvo's and parts for them. FCP has links all over this site and iPd can be found here: www.iPDusa.com

I went to a junk yard yesterday and picked up a oil dip stick and cam sensor for $5.
