Just purchased a new to me 1999 Volvo S70. The drivers side hood release is not releasing fully. The under dash hood release handle must be held pulled and the drivers front hood corner lifted by a second person to get it to release. There is no issue at all with the right front hood release. Any thoughts or ideas on causal or corrective action would be appreciated.

You need to lower that latch. There are two bolts, top and bottom, and I believe they are 10mm. Loosen them up and then slide the latch down a bit and that should solve the problem. You may have to fool around with different heights to get it to the right level.
