So, After my hood-release cable snapped at the lever under the driver's side dash, I decided to try replacing the cable with a bicycle-gear cable by taping the new to the old and threading the new (carefully) through the existing tubing. However, I could not get the tape to stick and, after deciding to move the operation to a shop, closed the hood--that's when the existing cable came loose from the driver's side latch under the hood--closing the thing solid. I have done some snooping around and have found a few probable solutions, but thought I would throw the problem on here to see if anyone has been there. My next move is to remove the marker light and see if I can get to the latch with a hanger. Any tips are appreciated!!

 

The marker light is your best bet. IF not break the headlight to get to it (replacement ones are like $80 on fleabay)
