Default ECU Chips, pointless or worthwhile?

I have a 1998 Volvo S70, 165bhp, 2.5 Petrol and the only issue I currently have is the MPG as I'm getting roughly 23MPG and I know some of this is down to my driving as I've only recently passed my test so I'm not the best driver...yet!

However I have been looking at ECU chips and would like to know if they are a worthwhile purchase in making my Volvo have a better MPG? and if so who are the best to buy from?

Better mpg? Are you being honest that is your goal ? Lol

Does anyone know if a T5 ecu will work on a GLT? That would be easiest and cheapest but I don't know if that can be done without more work

I myself would like to upgrade my T5 but I don't have $800 to throw at it
