Error code P0740
Hi all,
I have a 98 S70 turbo here in Mexico. Volvos aren't very common down here, and I recently ran into some trouble, but luckily I was able to track down someone with an OBD-II scanner and it generated error code P0740.
I want to say that this is the torque converter clutch solenoid circuit, is this correct?
If so, what do I need to tell the folks down here to do (other than replace it)- i.e., where is this located, how can they get at it, etc.- and how much might I be looking at the get this replaced (estimate for work in US)? Any part numbers and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
While I'm at it, what might happen if I ignore it? We cleared out the code, so the CEL and arrow aren't lit up anymore. The car is running fine, and goes through all gears smoothly. Fluid level is also ok. I generally don't ignore problems on my cars, but I have a feeling it's going to be something of a hassle to get this fixed (since the nearest Volvo certified mechanic is about 3 hours away). Will it be fine to drive short distances for the foreseeable future, or do I need to get this taken care of pronto, regardless of how much of a pain in my *** it's going to be...?
Thanks in advance.
