Default ETS Issues/Recall need advice

Was driving her hard one day on the way home from work with little in the gas tank - now she idles hard, stalls sometimesand has a sluggish throttle. Cruise control no longer works. Getting low gas mileage. Pulled 3 codes:

p0455 Large EVAP leak
P1238 Manufacturer Control Fuel Air Metering
P0121 TPS/Pedal Position Sensor A CKT Range/Perf

Any of this sound like something?

Thanks,
Rick

Did you try clearing them and see if they come back?

No. I'm still able to commute to work, but like I mentioned in first post, my mpg are down and the car is underperforming. I was going to change the fuel filter next, if that's advisable. (I want to think I sucked some crap through when I was screwing around with little fuel in the tank)

It is idling funny correct?
If so then disconnect the Mass Flow sensor and see if it idles better. If it does then the Mass Flow is bad.

TECH- "disconnect the Mass Flow sensor and see if it idles better"

Is this something I can do? (ie. do I have to lift the car?)
If not, what do I risk by driving it say...another month...until it goes in for my 1-year
Any thoughts on the lack of crusie control (fuse is fine) or are the two related?
Thanks again.

click on that picture and I circled in red a plug with just wires coming out near the air filter and in blue what looks to be another plug thingy with both tubes and another set of wires. Am I close - I don't want to unplug the wrong thing here.

Default ETS Recall

Ok, It's not the MAF - it's most likely the ETS Recall situation happening here...intermittent surging, stalling, rough idle...ETS light just came on...I imagine it's a matter of miles before "limp home" begins.

I done a lot of reading on this and I think I'm on the right diagnosis.

Next Question: How can I check to see if my ETS/ETM reall has been performed already or not? There is an 800 # under the recall section of this site - would my VIN provide the info I need? Can any dealership do it, or the one it was purchased from?

Any Dealer can run your Vin# and tell you if it has been done.

Thank you. That's what I was hoping for. I'll call Volvo Keene, NH first thing Monday morning.
If it has been done already, do I have any options left?

If there is codes in the system for it yes.
Also it is like a 2 step process. First software would be done. Then the actual throttle body will be done.
So it might only have the software done but not the throttle body done.

Update for Alan: Well, I called the previous owner and was informed that yes, both the software and the throttle body were upgraded and that he was going to call the dealer forme to get me copies of the paperwork.I have no reason to doubt him. Meanwhile, my ETS light has now gone back out. Still idling rough "sometimes" and still stalling at stop signs, red lights, etc...sometimes.

I'm still wondering if it might just be a blocked fuel filter. That might throw the Fuel/air metering code, but not the throttle sensor A code, right? And that wouldn't dissable the cruise control either, right?

Even if the ETM has already been replaced I believe Volvo's extended warranty is 10 years 200K miles so I think they should replace it again if it's faulty..

Quoting myself: Was driving her hard one day on the way home from work with little in the gas tank - now she idles hard, stalls sometimesand has a sluggish throttle. Cruise control no longer works. Getting low gas mileage. Pulled 3 codes:

Tech - you asked if I cleared the codes would they come back - well they dissapeared weeks ago on their own and never came back, yet symptoms remain. Am dropping her off tomorrow - checking fuel filter first.

Fuel filter was changed, getting same results/performance as before.

Would a bad turbo control valve give me these symptoms?

The Turbo control valve should not make the car run like that. An O2 sensor might.

O2 sensor. Ok.

What if my driver side rear caliper was frozen as well? (because it is)
Would that be adding to my dismay?
Does that mean my brake is frozen "on" that wheel?
Would that help explain a bunch of the symptoms?

The brake being seized will make the rotor glow red after driving because it is so hot.
But it will just slow the car down not make it run crappy.
