HID questions...
So i'm finally considering getting a set of HIDs. I found a site online that sells an apexcone kit for $40 (can't beat that)
Are there any difficulties installing them other than running the bulb wiring? Does the bulb failure warning come on?
And... the deciding factor.... Do i need new lenses? I'm in no position to spend $500 on projector, or jeweled headlights. I could go for e-codes, but do they even make a difference?

Oh my god, please do not run HIDs with E-code lenses, you will blind everyone you pass and probably get pulled over. If your running HIDs you should really retrofit projectors. You can get them on ebay for like 60 bucks a pair. The whole point of HIDs is that the projectors aim them, as apposed to normal headlight where they just go everywherez
well i dont want to blind my fellow plattsburgers. maybe i'll get some PIAA halogen bulbs instead. however, i do a lot of highway driving at night, and use my high beams quite a bit. would HIDs in the high beams be a good idea or a waste of time and money?
Don't do halogen bulbs either, I have seen many cars running those and they just look cheap, they also, from what I can tell, provide no better lighting over stock, they're probably even worse. 35W HID low beams will out preform your stock lights, however, 55w high beams will be super bright, and you will blind everyone you pass. Also, turning on and off your HIDs drastically reduce their life, they're meant to be turned on and stay on. Basically, if your going to run HIDs do it right and retrofit projectors or get an aftermarket head light with projectors already in them.
i didn't mean the blue halogens... i HATE those. they do look very cheap
i put silverstar bulbs in, and they made a surprising difference. color is slightly whiter than a normal bulb, but not really noticeable at a quick glance. i'm happy with these. i had the lights adjusted at the last oil change, and that also made a difference.
i also drive an 09 infiniti g37 (moms car), which has stock HIDs. the light coverage is actually somewhat comparable, but the intensity is not matched
