hot air/cold air coming off different vents on the same time

On my '98 S70, hot air comes out of the driver side vents and cold air comes out of the passenger side vents on the same time when the a/c is turned on or off. You can turn off the fan and hot air still comes out of the driver side vents although not as fast. Both temp controls are set to the cold setting. I suspect a vent or actuator is not closing/opening. Where does one start to solve the problem?
thank you in advance!

If one of the Blend motors are out of adjustment it will do that.
Also where do you have the Blend **** set at by the center vent shut off ****. Have you tried moving that yet? you might be blending to much air from outside.
If the motor needs to be calibrated then the Dealer will have to do it. Or if a local Indipendant shop has a Volvo VST (Volvo System Tester) they can do it.

Tech, thank you for your response.
I tried moving the Blend **** (outside/inside air control ****). It still blows hot air on the driver side regardless of the position. It blows warm air whether the re-circulating air button is on or off as well. My dashboard has been loose and squeaks a lot. I have not had a chance to look at the dashboard mounts by the firewall. I'm afraid they definitely broken.
How much do suppose is the cost for the dealer repair the Blend motors and where are they located?

Dealer wants 1.5 hours to calibrate the blend motor(s).
For the last month, the blend motor(s) were operating properly. Today it is back to cold air on passenger side and hot air on driver side when the AC is on. The exhausts positions will switch if I use the heater.
The Air box you are referring to, is it by the passenger side on the inside of the car? If I were to take off the glove box container, will I be able to see it. How many blend motor(s) are there? Calibrating might not be a long term fix since it seem to work properly one day and not the next. Maybe I could buy the motor itself for less or wiggle a flap if I know what it looks like. I hate to pay $120 calibrate only to come back again for a new one installed and recalibrate again later.
thanks,

Tech, thank you for your input. I hate to trouble you again but I have an additional question.
The blend motors that controls vents to the driver side, where abouts are they? Can they be viewed by removing the driver's side kick panel. It was 101 deg. here at Dallas today that I was well done by the time I got home.

Attached is a picture of a cable whose end is attached to a lever. The eyelet came off and caused the problem of separate hot/cold venting. The other end of the cable is attached to driver side cold/hot temp control ****.

I'm having the same problem, hot air on driver's side and cold on the passenger side... I was going to search for the damper this evening, but I sure would appreciate a diagram or photo of what I'm looking for. I can't see Elbert's photo that he posted for some reason? I'm trying to avoid the dealer for a couple of months if possible. I was just thinking of closing the damper for now. Any tips???
