HVAC question.
1998 S70 GLT. No matter what the control **** setting is at, air only comes out the defrost vents. Yes, the ECC has the blinking lights that flash for about 30 seconds then go off. Never had to mess around with the ECC before, so.....where to start? Thanks
I've never had to mess with one. I can tell you, though, that the 850 OBDii app does talk to the HVAC computer. I'm not sure if that ability to communicate would really help you. Nothing wrong with mine to experiement on. The guy that wrote the app posts at one of the other volvo sites, so he could probably comment on what things mean.
All the components that control it could be replaced with stuff out of the junkyard, and I guess that is the last resort.

the blinky light is saying the ECC has a fault code. If you can find a compatible OBD scanner that can read more than just the powertrain code sets, that will offer some clues. As FBP noted you can always junk yard pick or try ebay to see if you can find a used climate control module to swap in. May be worth a $50 gamble. Other possible faults are one of the motors or rods to the blend doors has failed/disconnected and that's why you're not getting the air to move around. Does the fan control work?
Yes, the fan control works fine. I'm willing to try an ECC panel to see if that does anything, just gotta get one. Not looking forward to tearing into the dash if it turns out rods or doors are malfunctioning...
Swapped in a known good ECC panel today and no change. Also checked the little interior fan in the dash by the ECC it's spinning fine and is clean.
Is there anyway to read the codes easily without having to get a new OBD tool? How do you check the blend doors and rods?
