I just lost my V (volvo) card!
i made a post last week sometime detailing a 1998 s70 i was looking to by and now she's all mine! i will post pics soon.
it's a 98 S70 GLT with 84k miles and got for an unbelieveable price after 10 days of haggling. extremely clean inside, leather looks great. the exterior has some scratches but overall looks magnificent.
there are several things that i need to tend to, which i posted last week but i am excited to put a fair amount of work into the car myself.
laundry list of fixes:
1. needs new ignition/cylinder. have to really pinch the key forward for it to start. kinda goofy, but a worn out ignition can be expected sometimes.
2. the turbo has an oil leak but can be dealt with sometime in the next year. the shop (a very expensive one who i wont take my volvo to in general) quoted me $1600 at the pre-buy inspection.
3. the keyless FOB and auto door locks are all screwed up. i think it's a combination a couple of problems that i've read in previous posts. i will fix this myself in time, but need to wrap my head around exactly what's wrong.
4. Replace upper engine torque mount.
5. Codes:
- SRS light is on due to the p-side belt buckle receptor sensor is shot.
- 232: Long term fuel trim, idling
- 143: kick down switch signal
i think that's about the extent of it. i am just so glad to have found a pretty much perfect Volvo. there are simply not many for sale as ive been looking for a long time. it's a classy car with a timeless look.
the volvo seed was first planted in me about 7 years ago or so when i saw a History channel 1 hour program on the "History of Volvo". i was fascinated and being that two of my grandparents were born in Sweden, i also possess some pride.
i plan on being a pretty consistent poster on here and will post pics of my repairs.
