Default IGNITION KEY

Hi,
I'm having a problem when I turn off my engine the key will not come out, I have tried every thing in the book (I even tried praying) any suggestions will be appreciated.
If I need a part can anyone suggest to buy the part, and what part is needed.
Thanks,
Eli

I hate to suggest it but are you sure the key is turned all the way back so it is able to come out.

That is usually either the shift **** is bad or the shiftlock bypass button is stuck down some.

Yes, make sure your gear selector is firmly in park, and if it is, you may have a bad ignition swich. So far, on my 98 S70GLT, I'm on my second.

I had the problem a year ago when I first bought my 98 S70. My shiftlock button didnt release it so I did these steps:

1.Put car in neutral while the engine is obviously running.
2.Let the car roll backwards (you may have to get out and nudge it or get someone to push it) for three or so feet.
3.Get back into the car if not already, and put the gear into park.
4.You should be able to remove the key now.

It might also be fixed by pushing the shifter up and down repeatedly through all gears and back to park. Do this quite a few times and it might release the key.
