ignition key question
I'll make the long story short. My brother is out of the country for a year and has left his 99 S70 at my mom's house, 4 hours away. So, whenever I visit my mom I start the car and drive it around the neighborhood. I do this about every 6 weeks or so. So, I went to start the car this morning and the battery was dead, not surprising. I jumped the car from mine and it started fine. I drove it around for 5 - 10 minutes, parked it and now here is the problem. The battery charged enough to run the dashboard lights, but not enough to start it. Anyway, I went to remove the key and it will not come out. The key will not return to the lock, "0", position so that it can be removed. I have no idea if the battery issue is relevent, but wanted to mention it. Any thoughts would be helpful.
If the button on the shifter **** sticks and would release all the way it will stop the key from coming out.
Also if you pressed the shift lock override at all and it didn't come all the way back up that will do the same thing as well.

Thanks for the info. I did have to press the shift lock override so that I could put the car in neutral to back it up enough to access the hood latch. I'll look at that more closely next week when I travel back to where the car is located.
