Ignition lock

Ignition lock
Okay so I'm having a problem starting my car because I believe the antenna ring is failing (starts and then stalls) and after trying to start the car several times over the last two months the ignition lock will now turn a full 360 degrees before starting the car. I've read that this means the lock is failing and will soon need replacing. What I want to know is can pull one off a wreck or get one from another source and not have to go to the dealer? Is there some sort of programming that needs to be done before / after the unit is installed?
Updated information: Turns out you can buy a new ignition lock with a key cut but the programming must be done by the dealer to match your car (chip inside the key). Right now it is about $265 for the key and programming at the dealer. If the car starts and then stalls replace the antenna ring first if that does not fix it move onto the fuel pump relay.
