Default instrument cluster dead Plus ETM trouble

Hey All,

I have a 99 S70 T5 showing all the classic signs of a bad ETM module, (ETS and “check engine light” are on, rough idle, turbo is no longer working) but additionally my dash gauges are dead.

From everything I have read this seems like the recalled ETM issue, except when I called Xemoddex they said the dead gauges were not the ETM and something additional must be wrong.

They suggested a bad relay under the dash could be the culprit and that I could test it by swapping it with an identical relay that controls the radio & climate control ( also found under the dash). I tried this but saw no change.

So what I am asking is for ANY possible causes for a dead dash.

Thanks a bunch.

Check all the fuses. Use a "fuse tester" or a multimeter on the continuity setting to avoid pulling and looking at all of them.

Good call on checking the fuses. I looked before but after pulling a bunch I kinda just glanced at the rest. I will use my multimeter and look again. Anyone have a clue which fuses might relate to the dash?
