Intake question
Over the weekend I finally got around to removing my ABS module to send it out and get it fixed. In the process of the removal I had to remove the airbox. While doing so I traced the intake back to the front grille and noticed what looks like a piece of sheet metal bolted across the opening, looking like it pretty much blocks 70% of the intake. This piece can easily be seen when you open the hood and get down to about the bumper level and look up past the horns. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the purpose of the piece of sheet metal? And would it be a good idea to remove it?
Also while removing the ABS module I snapped the clips off the power supply to the ABS unit, where it would plug into the ABS unit. Anyone know if this is an expensive part to replace. Just the power supply cord, looks to be about 4-6 inches long.
This is all for 99 S70 T5.
Thanks

RE: Intake question
A splashguard was fitted to prevent water and snow entering the air cleaner. It is screwed to the plastic grille. It does not impede the air flow.
If you mean the fiddly little bits of plastic that lock the plug into the socket I have found that, in the majority of cases, they are totally unnecessary. So long as the plug is a snug fit it shouldn't move. However, if you do want to make sure you will be able to fasten it down with a cable tie.
