I have a 1998 non-turbo S70 ,my Key is stuck in the ignition will not come out what,s the possible problem someone please help.

 

The button on the shifter is probably not popped all the way out. You can tap it a few times or pull it a little.

Happened to me with a truck at work, the ignition in it had been failing for a long time (had to jiggle the key really hard to get it to go past the lock position. Well one day while I was driving one day and happened to pull the key out while the truck was still running, well I put it back in and when I went to turn off the truck and pull out the key it was stuck! After forcefully jiggling and pulling on the key I heard what sounded to be a pin inside the ignition snapping loose and the key came out. The key was fine but had to replace the ignition and get it re-keyed.
Maybe you could get some graphite into the key-way, but might be pretty hard with the key in the way.

 

Well im sure youve fixed it by now but this has happened to me before and you just have to make sure that the shifter has been pushed all the way into the "P" park position, even though it seems like its in that position you're gonna have to push it

 

Also make sure the shift lock override button is all the way up.

 

My 1999 S70 has this same problem. I've noticed that if I jiggle the shifter in Park I can then remove the key. I'm thinking the interlock (button on the console or button on the shifter iteself) is sticking possibly from spilt coffee or soda. I'm currently disassembling the entire interior to clean and fix a broken sunroof issue. I'll see if I can clean the shifter assembly while I have everything apart.

 

I finally jiggled it out,but it became Stuck again the next day.

 

So you are saying that you put the car in park, made sure the button that you have to push to shift it was ALL THE WAY OUT, and the key still would not come out?

This is my next issue (first was passenger window https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...w-issue-62083/). My key seems to work fine just turning it on but not going anywhere.. But if I drive around a bit, it wont come out (intermittently). If I leave it alone a little while and come back it will turn that little bit further and come out.

I will try the things mentioned after work.

 

Yep this is what was causing mine to get stuck. Can you suggest something to spray in there (wd40?) so it pops out on its on better? Or how to take it apart to clean it?

I don't believe cleaning it is a solution. It needs to be replaced.
