Question Key Tumbler Question

Hello everyone. I just have a quick question here.

I have a 99' S70. Recently when I turn the key back to shut off the car the key it's self is getting stuck in the tumbler. I'll have to wiggle and tug on it, and sometimes rotate it it to the "on" position then back to "off" before the key will pull out.

Does this sound like a bad tumbler? Is it a pretty easy fix/any documents online showing a procedure? Also would this be something sold only through a dealer?

Thanks.

if it is an automatic next time it gets stuck try jiggling the gear selector lever. often times (speaking general automotive here not specifically volvos) the ignition interlock sensor or whatever it's called can go bad. It's what keeps you from taking the key out while the car is in drive.

Spray a bit of graphite based lube in there too; might help.

I've tried the gear selector thing, had a Malibu that did the same thing. It doesn't really seem to make a difference when I push on the gear selector.

I'll try the graphite lube and see if it helps any.

Thanks for the replies.

This question is asked almost monthly. The button on the gear selector **** gets stuck in and you have to pull it out or make sure it pops out or your key won't come out.
