Default Need advice on replacing 1999 s70 ecu

I have a 1999 s70 (nonturbo) that needs the ecu replaced. New ones are too expensive, but i see there are lots of used available. The listings i see says the module is good for both the turbo and non turbo versions of the s70. Is that correct? Do both versions use the same ecu?

Hello, Im new to the Volvo Forum and I need help. I purchased a S70 non turbo the other day and I love it. Its also for my wife. The other day when I went to pull away from a parking lot, it started to stumble and run real rough then the idle start to fluxuate up and down then it died. I started it again and would idle then start running rough again. If you give any gas it would act like it was running out of gas but there was plenty in it. The check engine light would come on then go off then come on again. I let it sit and idle for a minute or so then limped it home. I did notice it didnt have very much power and would shift kinda wierd. Any ideas on what it could be. I do my own repairs so I really dont want to take it to the shop.

Were there any of these symptoms during the test drive before you bought it?
BTW - start a new thread, put your problem in the title, and you'll get more responses.

It didnt do it on the test drive, I also got a real good deal on it. It runs and drives beautiful when it doesnt start acting up. When it does the idle goes nuts, the tach bounces around and acts like its running out of gas. If you let it sit for a minute or so it clears up and will run ok. The ecu or etm has been upgraded last year also. Hopefully this answers some of your question to help answer my questions. Thanks for the tip on posting.

You might want to listen to this.

1999+ Volvo's have a married ECU. That means it is married to the car. Thusly putting another ECU in for a 1999 s70 wont just work. Now I am not sure but Volvo or any one of their stealerships can probably solve this issue by cracking the codes and turning the used ECU into a good married one for your car.

But just don't go buy a used ECU and put it in your car. It wont work.
